Our story
RenoWorx began as a small family-run building business with a simple philosophy: do excellent work, communicate clearly, and treat every home like it's your own. Three decades on, that hasn't changed.
We've grown deliberately — keeping our team tight-knit, our trades long-term, and our project load disciplined. That's why our clients refer us to their friends, and why so much of our work comes from the same neighbourhoods, year after year.
Today our focus is on the work we love most: thoughtful, high-quality home renovations, kitchen and bathroom renovations, and extensions across Melbourne's Inner West — from heritage cottages to substantial modern family homes.

Choosing a builder
We're usually the third or fourth builder a client speaks to before signing. Almost every time, the shortlist comes down to the same four things — and none of them are the glossy render or the lowest number on the page.
A family-owned builder has one reputation to protect, not a national brand and a rotating cast of subcontracted crews. On our sites, Matthew is the person who signed your contract and the person walking the job on Fridays. That accountability is the single biggest driver of finish quality and honest communication.
Any registered domestic builder in Victoria carries a VBA registration number, public liability cover and — on jobs over $16,000 — Domestic Building Insurance for you as the owner. Ask for the numbers up front and verify them on the VBA website before you sign. A builder who hesitates on this question is the wrong builder.
Photos on a website prove nothing you can't buy on Instagram. A real local builder can point you at completed jobs on your side of Melbourne, put you in touch with their last three clients (not curated references), and show you an in-progress site so you can see how they actually run a build. Most of our work sits within a 10-kilometre radius of Newport for exactly this reason.
A quality quote is line-itemised, fixed, and free of vague provisional sums that quietly balloon mid-build. Every variation should be written, priced and signed off before the work happens — never a phone call and a promise. If the quote you're comparing is a single lump sum with three line items, it's not a quote — it's a hope.

At Renoworx, we believe a renovation is only as good as the maths behind it and the hands that build it. Founded by Matthew — a degree-qualified engineer with 30 years of construction experience — Renoworx was born out of a desire to bring a higher level of technical precision to Melbourne's home renovation and building market.

With extensive knowledge and site history, Matt doesn't just manage projects — he engineers them. His background allows Renoworx to tackle complex structural changes and high-spec designs that leave others guessing. For Matt, the success of a project isn't just in the tiles you see, but in the waterproofing and structural integrity you don't.
Lead Craftsman
If Matt is the architect of the plan, Oscar is the master of the execution. As our Lead Craftsman, Oscar is obsessed with the "Renoworx Finish". From calculating the perfect floor fall to ensuring every grout line is laser-straight, Oscar's dedication to the craft ensures our high engineering standards are matched by a gallery-quality aesthetic.
